Blog Hop: BEA

May 3, 2012 BEA, Blog Hop 14

Book Blogger Hop

I’ve never done a blog hop before but this weeks question is definitely one I want to answer.

Are you attending the Book Blogger Convention (aka Bea Bloggers) and/or Book Expo America in New York City in June? If not, will you participate in the online event called Armchair BEA?

I’ll be attending both the Book Blogger Convention and Book Expo America.  I am so seriously excited to be going.  Kate and I are leaving the great state of Virginia on Sunday morning on a Megabus, with a stop in DC to pick up Steph.  We should be in New York in time for lunch at the Hard Rock Café and I trip to see Central Park and the Met.  Kate and I will be sharing a room with Cindy and Kellie, for which I will be forever grateful because New York is hella expensive.

I’m looking forward to meeting other bloggers (if you’ll be there let me know!) and also meet authors, get books and see New York.  Mostly I just want to have a really good time.  We are going to the John Green breakfast and probably the Teen Carnival and whatever else we can fit in as well.

I’m also entering the “holy crap there is only one month till BEA” freak out.  I have been busy with other, life related things, that I haven’t done the necessary planning for BEA.  I haven’t even made lists yet!  It’s definitely starting to freak me out, so that is what I will be spending time on this weekend.  I know in my head (and from previous experience) that nothing will go as planned but I cannot not plan.

Are you going to BEA?  Or participating in Armchair BEA?  If you’ve been to BEA before do you have any advice for me?

Hahaha. Dude, I’m so excited. I’m ordering my business cards today. And I have to figure out a plan. And there are a lot of books I want to read beforehand.

I had planned to read a bunch of books beforehand but I just decided to give up and read what I want to read. My only have to book is The Fault in Our Stars, cause we are going to the breakfast.

It’s so exciting! I went two years ago and it was so overwhelming and crazy and books EVERYWHERE.. I would recommend bringing a rolling suitcase to the Javits and checking it in (you can’t bring them on the floor). There’s a nominal charge to check it, but I think it will be worth it. Otherwise, your arms will HURT from carrying all the books (believe me, I know from experience!). My arms were numb. I couldn’t feel them – lol! So that is the biggest thing I recommend. That and comfy shoes. The Javits is humungous and you will be walking back and forth.

What time are you guys getting in on Sunday? I haven’t purchased my bus ticket yet. Maybe I could meet you for lunch at the Hard Rock? What hotel are you staying at?

Thanks for hopping! Sorry for the crazy long comment!

Kimberly I plan on taking part in this blog hop later.

I am so excited to meet you and Kat in a months time. I send out a hufe thank you to Kate for contacting me because yes NYC is expensive.

Faktesteph I agree with Jennifer. I brought my roll on and checked it in for under $5 a day and it was a life saver. When the bag got heavy I went to empty it and its so much saver then in the shipping area. I heard bloggers had books stole from the shipping area.

You guys are going to have such an amazing time! If I could go anywhere it would be the Strand and Grey’s Papayas! I’m very jealous!

Seriously, it may be time to invest in some Xanex. But I can’t believe it’s in just a month! It seems like just yesterday that we were in Five Guys, eating burgers and I was telling you about BEA. And then you were all like, let’s do this! And I was all, really? And somehow we actually made it happen. I thank for that, because otherwise BEA might have continued to just be a wish in my bookish heart instead of a reality!

Lol. Other than trips home to see the family, that’s how I’ve planned all my vacations. I make a spur of the moment decision to do it and then I meticulously plan all the details, freak out a little the week leading up to vacation (this will happen due to be overwhelmed with extra work – it’s normal) and then I will happily go on vacation, not following most of the details that I meticulously plan.

Xanax is not necessary. It’s just a little OCD-ness.
