Hi guys! I have one more guest post for y’all. I should hopefully have my review of BEA up tomorrow, complete with my favorite story from NYC. Cindy from Cindy’s Love of Books is helping me out this time.
I have been trying to think of something I could blog about and a whole lot of ideas popped to mind so I really needed to narrow it down and in the end I decided on Blogging Friendships.
I have to admit that I was a little apprehensive about doing BEA this time around because I realized that I would have to find roommates to make this trip affordable. These room mates would be complete strangers. Granted I will probably be following their blogs. But still, its a little scary especially because you don’t really know if they are who they say they are right?
Thankfully a fellow blogger who has been following (stalking) me contacted me saying that Kim and her (Kate) were looking for roommates and would I be interested? Well yea of course I would be and quickly realized that this trip would be do able and affordable. We quickly brought another blogger on board (Kellie) and this made the trip even more exciting.
Throughout the course of contacting each other we quickly began to exchange emails and had two group chats and I realized that this was going to be fun and exciting. I was excited for BEA and getting to know these awesome bloggers. Plus I got to see BEA through the eyes of a newbie.
Honestly I was nervous when I got into NYC ( I think several people were worried about me) because I had no idea what was waiting for me, would Kim and Kate be who they said they were, would I survive or end up on the 6 o’clock news? Well I am happy to say that I did survive and I am alive to tell the tale. I lucked out and had the best blogging friends as roommates.
We hit it off from the get go and shared numerous (moth) laughs throughout the course of the week. I think I have made some amazing life long friends through this. I miss you guys already. We must plan some kind of reunion.
If you are thinking of going to BEA next year and want to get the most for your dollar on a limited budget I highly recommend going the route I did and putting it out there that you are looking for a roommate or two or three etc and you will have a blast. You will discover some amazing friends and share so many great memories with.
Just remember that we are all a friendly bunch (at least a majority of us are friendly) even if someone comments several times of stealing a certain book if you get it, we are all good people who are attending the same event and we want to have a fun time. I managed to accomplish this and I feel as though I am walking away with three great friendships.
Thanks Cindy for helping me out with your guest post! I know Kate and I shared similar feelings because it can be scary to share a room with people you’re meeting for the first time. I’m so glad we all got along and had fun!
