The Books!

June 16, 2012 BEA 20

Here are ALL THE BOOKS!

All books will link to Goodreads.

The Must Haves
These books were the ones I HAD to have… or I might have left NYC as one sad puppy.
Ten by Gretchen McNeil
Burn for Burn by Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian
* One of the ladies from Audio Go (and I apologize that I forgot her name and can’t find her business card) that were sitting at my table during the Bloggers Convention gave this to me.
Venom by Fiona Paul
* Tara from Penguin Young Readers Group said this is THE MUST READ of the fall releases. I have NO idea what it’s about (and I do not plan on reading the synopsis either).  I didn’t think about picking up this book until she said it was THE BEST BOOK so Kate, Kellie and I hovered around the Penguin booth on Thursday to make sure we got a copy in the final drop.  I plan on waiting a while to read it because I am a little too pumped for it and I don’t want it to disappoint.

The rest of the books in no particular order
Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry
Shadow of Night by Deborah Harkness
The Wishing Spell by Chris Colfer
* Honestly I’m not that big on middle grade and I had thought about giving this book away but he was just too cute at the breakfast and he’s been working on this story since he was 10 so how could I not want to read it?
Beautiful Lies by Jessica Warman
The Beautiful Mystery by Louise Penny
Breed by Chase Novak
Carnival of Souls by Melissa Marr
Hemingway’s Girl by Erika Robuck
* I received this book in my bag at the Blogger’s Convention and Jen from Crazy for Books was talking about how much she wanted it and didn’t get it so I gave her my copy.  Then I received one in my bag at the Penguin Bird Bash so I took that as a sign that I must read this book!
Origin by Jessica Khoury
Those We Love Most by Lee Woodruff
Forbidden by Ted Dekker
The Diviners by Libba Bray
* I was totally in the right place at the right time for this one.  I was trying to get through all the crazy (and they were crazy for The Diviners) and someone just handed me a copy.  Score!
Skinny by Donna Cooner
Son by Lois Lowery
* I will confess right now, I never read The Giver.  This will be corrected soon.  Well, soonish.
The Spindlers by Lauren Oliver
Time Between Us by Tamara Ireland Stone
Beta by Rachel Cohn
The Innocents by Lili Peloquin
Black City by Elizabeth Richards
The Farm by Emily McKay
Darkest Minds by Alexandra Blacken
Prodigy by Marie Lu
Bared to You by Sylvia Day
Chosen Ones by Tiffany Truitt
Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein
Destined by Aprilynne Pike
Insurgent by Veronica Roth
Let’s Pretend This Never Happened by Jenny Lawson
Masque of the Red Death by Bethany Griffin
Then Came You by Jennifer Weiner
Unraveling by Elizabeth Norris
What’s Left of Me by Kat Zhang

There are three books missing
The Lost Years by Mary Higgins Clark
Gypped by Carol Higgins Clark
* I got these two books signed for my mom and I was being efficient and shipped them from New York and forgot to take a picture.
Keeper of the Lost Cities by Shannon Messenger
* It fell off the stack and I didn’t notice until I put it on my computer and I’m too lazy to take another picture.

Non book items
Kobo coffee cup
Book light
* It’s considerably better than my $3 Wal-Mart one.

Well that’s about it.  I did pick up a few totes but I’m not a tote person so I gave them to the hotel staff of The Hampton Inn because they so did not fit in my suitcase.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!  I be spending some time on Sunday catching up on my commenting.

Kim you did awesome. I love your break down on the books. I wished I would have got venom but missed it. For some reason so much was happening that I missed out on alot of things.

  2. Bittner

You totally scored Kim!!! All those titles look great I’m sure you will have a ton of books in there that you end up loving! The only ones I have heard of is Insurgent and Wishing Spell. I haven’t read Divergent yet so Insurgent wont be on my tbr list any time soon, but I have preordered a copy of Wishing Spell so you should wait to read that one until I get my copy!

    • Kimberly @ On the Wings of Books

Thanks! I am so happy with what I got. And Divergent and Insurgent are awesome, but maybe you should wait until the third book is released then you won’t have to deal with the suspense that I am dealing with!

I see many books that I plan on borrowing… like VENOM. OMGOMGOMG… I didn’t get that one. I have to put together a post like this soon. And go through my business cards.

  4. Kate@Midnight Book Girl

Ugh, every time I try to write my BEA post I get overwhelmed. I’m having post vacation blues.

We should totally read The Giver series!

And I am totally borrowing The Diviners!

    • Kimberly @ On the Wings of Books

Bummer about the post vacation blues. Luckily (ha ha)I had so much work to do when I came back that I didn’t have time to feel bad about not being on vacation.

We should read The Giver series! And it’s a yes to Diviners after I read it!

  5. Jenny

Eeeep! That’s a lot of books! I’ve seen how many books people bring home from BEA before but it still blows my mind. Enjoy!

  6. Alexia561

Awesome books! And you managed to snag Venom! I kept missing that one as it disappeared so fast. I need to work on my Goodreads shelf…but like Kate, I feel a little overwhelmed and go do something else. :(

  7. Kimberly @ On the Wings of Books

I was a little overwhelmed with everything when I came back so I kind of forced myself to do it when I was still in work mode so that made it easier.

Kate, Kellie and I hung out around the Penguin booth for like 45 minutes to get Venom on Thursday. It was definitely crazy for that book.

  8. Jess Michaelangelo

Wow what a load! That is awesome, and I’m glad you had a good time. I can’t wait to start seeing these books popping up in your reviews!

  9. Erin

That stack seems exciting and overwhelming at the same time! :) I’m so glad you had such a great (and interesting) time. I haven’t heard of Venom, but I’m looking forward to adding it to my TBR list & Pushing the Limits looks like a yummy read! There are so many great books in that stack!

  10. Andrea @ The Overstuffed Bookcase

Such a great haul! I want to read lots of those, especially Origin, Black City, and Time Between Us. And of course, What’s Left of Me! Thank you so much again for snagging me a copy! I hope you enjoy all of these! And that’s so cool that Chris Colfer has been writing that book since he was 10. That’s nice that he’s not another celebrity who was like, “Hey, it’s not hard to write a book! Why don’t I try to write one!” ;)

    • Kimberly @ On the Wings of Books

No problem! And I liked that about him too. He didn’t make it sound so easy to write a book (cause we know it’s not). Plus he was really funny and told cute stories. And the fact that he had it in his head for 10 years and had all these drawings and stuff was so cool!
