Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by the awesome people at The Broke and Bookish, who love lists as much as I do!

Top Ten Bookish Goals for 2013

1. Have fun

Reading and blogging aren’t supposed to be work!

2. Read more adult books

I really dove into YA this year, which has been great, but I like adult books too.

3. Read all the book club books

I think I was less than 50% in 2012

4. Attend more author events

I already have 2 that I’m planning on for Jan/Feb :)

5. Take better notes while reading

(and by better, I mean to actually take them)

6. Reorganize my bookshelves

I separated out my YA and Adult books last year and that’s not really working for me.

7. Purge some books

This goes right along with #6. I have books I’m probably not going to read and books that I’m not sure why I own that I really should get rid of.

8. Update Goodreads with my TBR books

Both physical and ebook copies (shudder)

9. Make an effort to read books about things that I think I don’t like.

There are lots of things I don’t like, one of the biggest being sci-fi. But recently I’ve read some books that could be classified as sci-fi and I liked them so maybe I don’t really hate sci-fi that much. Maybe I should stop judging a whole genre by the one or two things I don’t like and give other sci-fi books a chance.

    1. This is most important! I need to remember this too!

    4. Events are fun! I’m going to one in Feb that I know of.

    5. I’ve given up on me and notes. It’s just not happening.

    6. Yup, alphabetical by author is a classic for a reason.

    7. I need to do this too.

Excellent list! Think #1 is the most important, as we tend to forget that we’re supposed to be having fun! And I need to do #6, but purging is always scary…

    Good luck with your goals!

Ha — you and I are in trouble because there seems to be a lot of YA sci-fi coming out this year. I’ll try it. *grumbles*
And all my notes are not as good as the ones I sent you. I decided that if I was going to reread books in series, I would take good notes so I could share them. Most of my notes are like “WTF???” and “No way!!!”

I know I feel like sci-fi is everywhere! You and I can grumble about it together ;)

If I do take notes they totally are short one or two words. I wish I could take the kind of notes you sent me for all books but I get so wrapped up in the story, I forget!

Great goals! I want to attend more author events as well. I re-organized my books last week and have 2 suitcases full of books I’m going to give to the library so that’s great! It feels so good to have more space in my room and know that I only have books in my possession that I love and books I am actually going to read. Since I’ll be reading a lot more than last year, I think I’ll make it a pattern to go to the library at the end of every month and donate whatever books I read that month but don’t need in my personal collection.

    Good luck with your goal!

I need to make your first goal my motto for the year! It’s hard when reading and blogging become “work”. I hate that!

Good luck! I’m not the biggest fan of sci-fi, but this one totally blew me away last year – check it out – saving mars by cidney swanson, enjoy! :)

Oh how I’d love to go to author events or book release events – this would be one of my goals but alas all such events seem to occur in London which with my mobility issues isn’t easy to travel to. Anyway, good luck with all your goals and happy reading.

Organized book shelves are crucial! I keep mine alphabetical but I do separate out my favorite authors and I have a separate book shelf just for series.
