The past few years have held more surprises than part-angel Clara Gardner could ever have anticipated. Yet from the dizzying highs of first love, to the agonizing low of losing someone close to her, the one thing she can no longer deny is that she was never meant to live a normal life.

Since discovering the special role she plays among the other angel-bloods, Clara has been determined to protect Tucker Avery from the evil that follows her . . . even if it means breaking both their hearts. Leaving town seems like the best option, so she’s headed back to California - and so is Christian Prescott, the irresistible boy from the vision that started her on this journey in the first place.

As Clara makes her way in a world that is frighteningly new, she discovers that the fallen angel who attacked her is watching her every move. And he’s not the only one. . . . With the battle against the Black Wings looming, Clara knows she must finally fulfill her destiny. But it won’t come without sacrifices and betrayal.

In the riveting finale of the Unearthly series, Clara must decide her fate once and for all.

This is the third and final book in the series. There WILL be spoilers for Unearthly and Hallowed.

What I Thought…

  • On one hand I really, really loved Boundless, but on the other hand I had some issues, thus the 3 star rating.
  • I loved the plot of Boundless so much! Clara is now off at Stanford with Christian and Angela, leaving Tucker behind (which I totally hated). Clara and Christian’s visions are getting stronger, I loved how they pieced the visions together to figure out what was going on.
  • Boundless had more action in it than either Unearthly or Hallowed and the ending was sooo good. I loved the big fight scene at the end and how it (mostly) played out. Everything that happened pieced together so nicely and made perfect sense by the end.
  • Christian is in Boundless a lot more than Tucker is. In fact Tucker could almost be considered a side character he was in the book so little.
  • Clara was not always likeable in Boundless. I thought Clara was pretty mean to Christian and I felt really bad for him for the way she treated him sometimes. He put up with a lot from her and did it because he loves her. I feel like Clara abused that love sometimes, at the same time though Christian let her abuse it.
  • At the end of Hallowed you couldn’t help but worry about what was going to happen to Clara’s brother, Jeffrey. I wanted to just take care of Jeffrey so bad in Boundless, he clearly still needs a mother figure. He ran off and thinks he has this great life and it’s obviously not given the fact that he’s not in school and is still having a host of angel issues.
  • In the first book, Unearthly I totally thought Angela was going to turn out bad. In Hallowed I still didn’t like her much, but came to terms with the fact that she probably isn’t going to turn out bad. In Boundless… I still didn’t like her. The feeling that she might be bad reappeared in Boundless, she was so secretive and kind of bitch. I also REALLY didn’t like a choice she made regarding her circumstance and how it affect another person. Not cool yo!
  • The Unearthly series is one of the few love triangles that I think is a REAL love triangle. You feel Clara’s pull and attraction to both guys, her struggle to pick one and unlike almost all other love triangles it’s not so easy to pick out who she will choose. Boundless still had that feel, but I didn’t like how it played out at all. I don’t disagree with Clara’s choice, just how she was able to make her choice. I know that makes no sense, but I can’t say anything else without giving it away.

Overall I really enjoyed Boundless but the thing I can’t talk about really bothered me. If you’ve read the previous two books I definitely recommend it as I’m not sure that other people will be annoyed as I was.

I rated this one quite highly (four I think), but the more I think on it, the more I think I was so caught up in how much I enjoyed the series, that I overlooked the things that really bothered me.

I know exactly what you are talking about! I think because the story is now complete it’s harder to separate out the first two and just think about the third.

“I feel like Clara abused that love sometimes, at the same time though Christian let her abuse it.”

This is generally why I am not a fan of love triangles :(. It’s almost impossible to come to an ending or portray a relationship with two different guys without it coming to some aspect like that that might make you dislike the character. Although it is a good thing that this series actually went all the way with the love triangle.

Having more action in this one is definitely appealing to me. Although I loved the writing of the first two and the setting as well as the characters, I still felt like there was something missing. There might be a few ticks as you’ve mentioned – Angela’s behavior, the potentially spoiler-y annoying thing :D, Jeffrey – but I’ve been meaning to pick this one up for a while… at least finish the series.

I think what made this love triangle harder for me was that it was actually a love triangle and not one of the fake ones where you know which one will be chose and which one won’t.

It was a good ending except for the love triangle so I definitely recommend it.
