Renovating the Yard

July 17, 2015 Home Projects 3

One of my goals for this summer was to have someone come out and deal with the crazy that my yard has become. I am not a yard person so I wasn’t really interested myself, plus I had let some of the shrubs and bushes get so freaking big that I couldn’t do anything with them myself anyway!

Before

As you can see here the bushes in the front of the house go past the window by quite a bit. Drove me nuts.

This is my shed. Covered in Poison Ivy. Awesome!

This is in the center of my backyard and at one point and time looked pretty (the day I moved in) but I have since killed most of what grew there (due to lack of maintenance). Also covered in Poison Ivy. It was also a pain in the ass to mow around!

These bushes are overrunning my deck.

These bushes were too big when I bought the house and I just kind of let them do there own thing. That was a mistake.

After

I got a good deal on getting the work done and they did a great job. As you can see at the front of my house the bushes are much smaller. Still a bit above the window but that’s because trimming them any further would have killed them.

No more Poison Ivy! This now highlights next years major outdoor project – a new shed.

All gone!! This was the most exciting thing to see as I was tired of looking at the hot mess. I will rake it over and top soil it, then plant some grass in the fall.

No more bushes by the deck either. Maybe now I’ll actually use my deck.

These bushes are 1/3 of the size the originally were. They look a lot nicer and it will be easier to cut the grass now.

I couldn’t be happier with how things turned out!

Oh I don’t work in the heat either, I paid someone to come out and do this. (It was more than I could handle in cooler weather anyway). It’s been so hot here it’s unreal.
